Why is accounting an important aspect of becoming a Financially Wise Woman?
Regardless of the economic situation we all need to file our tax returns and report our earnings to the Governmental agencies annually. The rules are the same regardless of your gender. It is important to be involved and understand the tax return that is being signed by both spouses because both parties are equally responsible for truthfulness, completeness and accuracy of the tax returns. There are number of tax saving techniques that can be utilized if planned timely and correctly. It is important to have a professional, reliable, trustworthy, and caring CPA who will help you to be on the right track. Of course, together with a great team of Financial Planner, Attorney, Investment Advisor and CPA you can be in much better position.
We do not expect everyone to become experts and understand all the complex financial transactions, but just to be involved and ask questions if something is not clear on the tax returns, financial reports and documents.
What is a favorite money quote or affirmation?
Never spend your money before you have it.
I believe in this quote because unfortunately with the credit system that we have and allowance of minimum payments, many people get trapped by buying items using their credit cards, not feeling how much they spent and end up paying high interest and payments for years and years. I think the quote by Thomas Jefferson says it all.
What does being a Financially Wise Woman mean to you?
Many people start off the New Year with good intentions for fulfilling resolutions, but their interests and enthusiasm often fades away by the end of February. But when we talk about financial well being, we are talking about a subject far more serious than changing a lifestyle or committing to a simple change in our lives. For some it is a matter of survival and we need to be committed to getting the result we seek.
Handling money is a huge responsibility, and one that cannot be taken lightly. If you’re like most women, you know that having the peace of mind in knowing that your family will be taken care of, makes a difference in the day-to-day experiences we face.
Times have changed and due to number of layoffs and poor economy many women enter the workforce to help the families survive in this tough economic time. On the other hand, we have the women who are career oriented and are entrepreneurs and they also in addition to their specialties need to learn how to manage and balance the time, finances, investments, retirement, protect the kids and to get involved in financial future of the family. It is my goal and job to help them and explain if needed how to be compliant with tax laws and plan timely and properly to utilize tax saving strategies that are available to them.
