Whether you’re just starting your career, getting married, buying a home, raising kids, starting a business, approaching retirement, or simply taking control of your finances for the first time, now is the time to get the financial education you need to become a Financially Wise woman.
As you work on becoming a Financially Wise Woman, remember you are not alone and consider creating a support group. Having the proper guidance and encouragement around you is important and can help you stay motivated along the way.
Not only financial professionals, but your spouse, family, friends and colleagues can all be a great support group on your journey toward becoming Financially Wise.
Also, it is a good idea to consider working with a Certified Financial planner. A CFP, is someone who has completed education, experience and examination requirements determined by the CFP Board. Because there are many variations of how CFP’s work, and it may be a good idea to ask your friends and family for referrals, so you can interview a few professionals to determine which person is a good fit. You can also go to the CFP Board website to access a list of questions to ask when interviewing and financial advisor or certified financial planner.
Other professionals who may need to be on your team would include a CPA, banker, mortgage broker, insurance broker. When hiring financial professionals, it is important to find someone you can trust and feel comfortable with.
Last but not least, for all you parents out there, start to talk with your kids about money. You can help give them the financial education they need to become financially savvy adults later in life. You can start with what you have learned so far and then incorporate them into the family money discussions moving forward.
